Georgia announced a new voluntary cash-compensation route for internally displaced families on 12 October. Speaking at a government briefing, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said eligible households that have not previously received state housing or equivalent compensation would be able to apply for GEL 10,000 per family member instead of waiting for an apartment provided through the established resettlement programme. The choice is optional, and the authorities say parallel construction of apartment blocks will continue for families that prefer the existing housing route.

The new proposal is relevant to housing policy rather than a general-purpose subsidy for every resident. Eligibility is linked to internally displaced status and previous access to assistance. The government described the measure as a way to reduce queues for accommodation, with payments intended to proceed in application order. Announced rules should not be confused with money already transferred to households: applicants still need to check official instructions, required documents and implementation dates when the programme opens.

The impact on individual families depends on household size, the location in which they hope to purchase housing and the actual cost of suitable homes. A payment of GEL 10,000 per person does not automatically cover a home or establish the price of available property. HomeRadar maintains a separate catalog of Georgian residential projects for market context, but its listings do not determine eligibility for this public programme.
