Cyprus has fixed the application window for the 2026 “Save and Upgrade Homes” scheme, turning an earlier funding announcement into an actionable deadline for property owners. The Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry says applications will be accepted electronically from 09:00 on 20 October until 23:59 on 30 December, unless the €20 million allocation is exhausted earlier. Priority is determined by submission order.
The programme targets existing homes owned by individuals. Among the property conditions, the residence must have an existing domestic electricity account registered to an individual and must either have been first connected to the grid before 1 January 2008 or have had its planning or building-permit application submitted before 21 December 2007.
Eligible works include thermal insulation, replacement windows and doors, shading, solar water heating, efficient air-conditioning or heat-pump systems, photovoltaics and battery storage. Category A can provide up to €32,000 for a renovation that reaches nearly zero-energy-building status and at least 60% primary-energy savings. Category B offers up to €24,000 for at least 60% savings without the near-zero-energy requirement.
Owners need an Energy Performance Certificate issued by a registered expert before applying; the qualifying initial certificate must be dated 15 May 2026 or later. For buyers evaluating older Cyprus housing, the scheme is not a general purchase subsidy, but it can change the renovation budget of an eligible property materially.
